LRCA Finals Rodeo

LRCA Finals Rodeo

The State fair of Louisiana is going on this week in Shreveport, LA. I’m honored to have been chosen as the official Rodeo Photographer to capture the moments when these Cowboys and Cowgirls of the Louisiana Rodeo Cowboy Association decide who’s going to come out on top. After the first nights performances, its obvious the competition is tough.

Here you’ll see my photos from this three night event. If you like my photos, I have digitals and prints available. We’ll be set up by the announcers stand behind the bucking chutes each night.

Please, contact me for commercial use or if I can help you in any way.

Barrel Racing Photos for Social Media – Common practices that are not ok

Friends of the Mac 2019

I get asked a lot about digital versions of my photos for facebook use. I also see a lot of people taking photos of their printed photos or photos of my computer screen at the runs for facebook. Or even screenshots of images from a website or facebook.

I hate having to address this type of thing because I’m a very giving kinda guy, and this is not directed at any one person but this is just not cool y’all. Although this seems common for barrel racing photos, these same issues affect all of my photos and other photographers as well. Some photographers may have different views on the use of their copyrighted images so if in doubt always check with the photographer.

We live in a social media world. I understand the desire for social media photos. I understand the culture we live in and that we want to share our lives with our friends as soon as possible. But lets face it, these photos of photos always look terrible compared to the actual photo. I know you love your horse and are proud of your run. Taking action photos in these settings is very difficult anyway and a photo of a photo of you run is not the best way to share the success of you run with your friends that you can be proud of. So help me help you!!!

Purchasing Images for Use

Digital versions of my photos are available for purchase online as well as prints. I offer several different digital options and licensing options of photos. This ranges from small easily sharable photos all the way up to the original image. I also offer personal licensing and commercial licensing options if you’d like to use my images when you get ready to sell a horse or if you have a sponsored product that you need help marketing. If you contact me, I can even do custom editing or graphics to help you better market your events or products.

Online digital orders such as these, do not contain a watermark and you are free to share those photos anywhere you like provided you comply with the personal vs commercial use licensing agreement.

How to Share an Image

As an added service, most of the time, If you order photos online I try to pick the best image ordered and post it to facebook or instagram so when you order from me, you are getting a digital version as well that I don’t mind you sharing directly from my facebook page.

The images that I post do have a small watermark at the bottom and if you save the photos and create your own post, please don’t edit this out but you are welcome to share that image so long as you tag me or my page in your post.

The preferred method is to just share directly to your page from my original post. This gets the image on your page and still contains a link back to my page which helps us both.

This image shows a recently purchased photo that was shared to facebook on the Riverbank Products page and shared to my personal facebook page

I appreciate the work you put into your horse and I appreciate the power and intensity of the sport. If you appreciate the images I take, the best way to show that is to share the love by purchasing the images. I work hard to get the best profesional images I can but if it’s not profitable, then I can’t shoot barrel racing events. I’ll be more than happy to help you in anyway I can if you’ll just ask.

Third Annual Friends of the MAC Barrel Run

This weekend, we shot the third annual friends of the MAC Barrel Run in Bastrop, LA. Even in the face of hurricane Barry, who isn’t winning any races as he moves through the area, we had a pretty good turnout.

Photos are now live. Check them out online.

South Louisiana with T.P. Outdoors Adventures

I’ve been helping film the T.P. Outdoors Adventures TV show for several years now with Bill Petrus and each show really is an adventure. On one of the first shows I filmed, I thought I was filming Bill get eaten by an alligator. True story! Thought I was going die myself a time or two but we’ve all survived so far.

Our most recent adventure was typical. We tried to cram a nutria shoot, bow fishing, Frog Giggin, and Red Fishing into two days. Why? Because sleep is over rated.

Turns out, its harder to find the nutria during the summer when the grasses in the marsh get thick so we focused our attention on frogging instead. Our friend Rafe Antill in Houma put us on the frogs after showing us around the marsh and showing us some on going alligator farming operations. That part was pretty interesting.

We caught a lot of frogs

The rest of the adventure was not nearly as productive as the frogging. from Houma, we set off for the Leeville/Golden Meadow area for some bow fishing and red fishing. We had an overloaded air boat and not so ideal wind and water conditions which made it very tough (i.e. we almost sunk the boat) bow fishing.

It became clear that it just wasn’t safe to proceed with bow fishing so we called it a short night and hoped for better luck the next morning where Brock Miller had some Hobie Kayaks lined up for us from The Back Packer out of Baton Rouge. Brock may be young but he is already an accomplished tournament angler having won multiple tournaments including Ride The bull at the age of 16. Now in college Brock is even more experienced and was a great guide for this crew of novice kayak fishermen.

Unfortunately, the wind and water conditions persisted into the next day making for tough fishing, but I was pretty impressed with the way the Hobie Kayaks handled the water. They provided a very stable platform for such a little boat and the Hobie Mirage ST pedal Fins made them a lot of fun to scoot around the marsh in as we fished. All in All, our group caught three or four keeper fish and we had a great time. Would love to do it it a gain but for the rest of the story, you’ll have to stay tuned for an upcoming episode of T.P. Outdoors Adventures.

While the fishing and what not may not have been as productive as we’d like, I did end up with quite a few great images of south Louisiana. For more of these, view my gallery below.
